Astrology is an art and science which attempts to study and predict events by observing celestial bodies such as stars and planets using mathematics and astronomy. There are over 4000 years of astrological history present in India since Vedic times (2700BC). Astrology is defined as the science dealing with the meaning and interpretation of astronomical events and it can be observed in many forms such as prognostications, astrological charts and interpretation of omens. There are numerous aspects that we can use to understand and come to some conclusions about an event or situation that we are experiencing in our lives. These aspects are also known as planetary aspects, transits or various other things. Some of these are listed below: The Sun - The Sun is the planet that represents our light source. It acts as a "bright mirror" for life on planet Earth. It does not move and stays fixed in the sky. The Moon - The Moon is the natural satellite of planet Earth. Its movement is related to our monthly cycles and the tides. Planets - Planets are stars that make up a system or constellation, such as our Sun or Constellation, such as Virgo (in the Great Bear). The 'planets' represent different aspects of life, emotions and change while we live on planet Earth. They also influence our lives in various ways. Some examples of planets are: Mercury (communication), Venus (imbalance), Saturn (stagnation) and Uranus (change). Star ( or Surya) - Each of the five planets (the Sun, the moon, the five major planets, and the minor planets) travels along its orbit in circles. The movements of all these five bodies 'interact' with one another to form a complete system. This is known as their 'signature'. The measurement of this signature is called the planet's house or sign. Transits - Transits are when a planet passes through your natal chart, placing emphasis on your natal house(es) and sign(s). They can also occur in tandem with each other to effect multiple houses/signs at once. An aspect or transit can be seen in two ways: The first way, is to consider it as a karmic aspect. These are the "karmic" influences that come into your life. These are based on our karma and through this we learn lessons and gather experiences that we need to evolve and grow. The second way, is to look at it as a harmonious or disharmonious aspect between two planets. The only planet that cannot benefit from another planet is the Sun (since it gives and receives light). Therefore, an aspect between the Sun and any other planet will always be negative (or bad). eccc085e13
